English Nature

English Nature is the statutory service responsible for looking after England's variety of wild plants and animals - the country's bio-diversity - and its natural features.

English Nature promotes the conservation of England's wildlife and natural features. Set up by the Environmental Protection Act 1990, they are a statutory body funded by the Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions.

One of English Nature’s key responsibilities is to select and notify Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and help owners manage them for conservation.  “There are over 4,000 SSSIs with 32,000 owners and occupiers in England, and some 30,000 corporate customers, such as local councils, other government offices and voluntary conservation bodies” says Rachel Lockwood, English Nature Press Officer.  “We are in regular contact with all these people so that means a lot of mailing!”

“It is important that English Nature’s mailing database is as accurate as we can make it and when we looked for a reliable address management system, Matchcode filled the need” Mrs Lockwood continued.  “The system allows us to verify and correct addresses, keeping them up to date, thus ensuring that our mailings are much more professional and efficient.  The link between Matchcode and the Royal Mail Mailsort programme also helps us to save money” she concluded.
