Capscan Demonstrates Its Capability To Capture Accurate Customer Details And Reduce Dropouts At e-Commerce Expo 2007

Capscan, a leading supplier of international address management solutions and data integrity services, today announced that Sales Manager, Global Solutions & Alliances, Jon Paterson, will show online retailers at e-Commerce Expo 2007 how the quality of customer data captured, as well as the overall customer experience can be improved through address management. From stand 164, Capscan will also make available for demonstration its range of online address data capture, validation and enhancement tools and services for online retailers, including, Matchcode International, Nearcode and its award-winning Capscan OnDemand service.
In Theatre Three at e-Commerce Expo 2007 on 31st October, Paterson will illustrate how online retailers including Virgin Wines and Ocado have seamlessly integrated Capscan’s technology into their websites to ensure that customers completing online forms are doing so in the quickest and most accurate way possible. “Accurate customer data when processing e-commerce transactions is crucial to online retailers, in terms of combating fraud, reducing the number of site drop-offs and avoiding the unnecessary monetary and environmental costs associated with mis-directed or lost mail and packages, as well as brand damage,” says Paterson. “The increased ease of completing an order, for example, means less users will drop out of the process early, improving conversion rates for e-commerce websites.”
Available for demonstration on stand 164, Capscan’s addressing tool Matchcode International ensures that only accurate, complete and valid address data is added to the retailer’s database. With online retailers increasingly supporting International transactions, demand for global marketing tools has also grown. Providing address management for over 240 countries, Matchcode International can be seamlessly integrated into an e-commerce website supporting the existing branding and layout. It processes an entered postcode and property number against the Royal Mail Postcode Address File (PAF) or relevant country file to return the correct address, in real-time. As a result, retailers ensure they are maintaining a clean, high quality database, customer dropout rates for online transactions are reduced and the business’ marketing activity is optimised.
Technical Architect at the online grocery service, Ocado, Martin Henery reinforces the need for quality addressing tools in retail: "If we accept inaccurate delivery addresses, we would not only have late or missed deliveries, with all the associated cost problems this involves, we then have the responsibility to find out the correct address and re-deliver the goods. The Capscan system removes this problem altogether."
Also at e-Commerce Expo 2007 will be Nearcode and Capscan’s award-winning hosted service, Capscan OnDemand. Capscan OnDemand enables the complete address verification and enhancement of business information. It ensures that databases are only populated with complete and accurate addresses, with abbreviations, mis-spellings and incomplete addresses quickly identified and corrected. Data can further enhanced by providing geo-codes, lifestyle and B2B information, as well as link together customer data from other databases, legacy systems and web-based sources.
Nearcode, Capscan’s popular store-locator software, can be easily integrated into a website to return a list of the nearest retail outlets when the user enters a postcode. The underlying database is easily maintained and can be linked to mapping solutions to further enhance the users’ experience.
