Capscan Enhances Matchcode With Royal Mail Multiple Residence Data To Further Improve Contact Data Quality
New dataset for Matchcode identifies shared letterboxes for improved service delivery Capscan, a leading supplier of UK and international address management solutions and data quality services, today announced that it has added OS MasterMap Address Layer 2 MOWPA data file to its Matchcode range of software. The data set will enable organisations to identify where residential premises have been sub-divided, improving service delivery accuracy, reducing the risk of fraud and enabling accurate invoicing for suppliers in sectors such as utilities and cable television.
Shared premises can create challenges for many organisations, particularly those trying to target specific individuals living in single buildings which have been sub-divided into multiple residences (such as self-contained flats and university accommodation). Derived from Multiple Residence data collected and maintained by Royal Mail since 1995 the file covers 121 postcode areas across the UK providing a detailed structure for multiple residence properties.
Organisations using Capscan’s Matchcode software to verify accurate and complete addresses via the Royal Mail’s most comprehensive data set, the Postcode Address File (PAF), will be able to use the linked MOWPA database to further enhance their customer data to ensure only the most accurate address data enters the database.
“The OS MOWPA will help Matchcode users to verify and identify addresses more readily and accurately than is possible through the PAF alone,” says Managing Director of Capscan, Terry Hiles. “Each multiple of a residence is assigned a distinct record that identifies the sub properties connected to the central delivery point. This is essential information for firms in the credit, telecommunications, insurance, risk assessment and utilities sectors, as it enables them to identify that individual sub-unit – whether this concerns administration or even the actual service provision. This in turn saves a lot of man hours and money correcting or amending incomplete contact data and ensuring they are connecting with the right people.”
Royal Mail, who maintain the Multiple Residence file is the only source of first hand, accurate and up-to-date multiple occupied address information. Every record has been allocated a Unique Multiple Residence Reference Number (UMRRN) and this can be linked to the Unique Delivery Point Reference Number (UDPRN). This in turn links in with MasterMap Address Layer 2 records, which have their own unique references (TOID’s) via a lookup table.
MOWPA data is available now as an optional dataset for use in Matchcode.
